Julia Morgan has written for a wide variety of audiences in a number of magazines (and occasionally newspapers), including Saturday Night, Reader’s Digest, Homemakers, The Globe and Mail, Masthead and The Utne Reader. She specializes in writing about innovative approaches to social issues, but she also enjoys writing profiles and has done health, woodworking, travel, and humour stories. In her freelance magazine career, she has researched everything from post-traumatic stress disorder and heart transplantation to artificial turf and infant CPR.
Julia has been interviewed in the media as a result of some of her magazine features, and she has been a guest speaker at Ryerson University, talking to students about her freelance writing career.

Documentary Films
Julia has been a writer/interviewer on two documentaries, Hop to, Toronto! (Building a swing dance community), which screened at the Bloor Cinema in Toronto and was reviewed on CBC Radio One, and B.Y.O.C. (the story of the 2003 World Rubik’s Cube Championship). She was an associate producer for the documentary Poor No More(2009)
She is currently an associate producer and writer for the upcoming feature-length documentary Transfixed.
